2 C flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
3 Tbsp sugar
2 eggs
1 1/4 C milk
6 Tbsp melted shortening

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour. Add baking powder, salt, sugar and sift again together. Beat egg whites until stiff but not dry, set aside. Beat egg yolks; add milk. Add sifted dry ingredients and mix just enough to blend, add melted shortening. Fold in egg whites. Bake in moderately hot waffle baker 4-5 minutes. Serve with melted butter and syrup or honey.
