Dough:
3 cups flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
½ tsp. salt
1 egg, beaten
Water, enough to make dough soft

Filling:
Sour cream

Cooking:
2 cups water
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. shortening

Directions:
Directions:
1. Mix together all ingredients except for sour cream to form a soft dough.

2. Roll out into a pie shape, approximately ⅛ inch thick

3. Brush sour cream on the dough and cut into strips 3 inches wide. Fold one side of each strip towards the center and then lap the other side over. Press together in increments of 1 inch and cut.

4. Boil "cooking" ingredients. Transfer uncooked books into the boiling water and cover. Reduce heat to low and don't open until they are fully cooked.

5. Serve with more sour cream on top.

Another German classic! This recipe is from Great Grandma Doll's recipe book and was a little confusing for me to translate into recipe directions. I've never cooked it myself and it may take some trial and error to get it right.
