1 cup raisins
1 cup water
3/4 margarine
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla
2 eggs
2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
2 cups quick oatmeal
1/2 cup nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Simmer raisins and water in saucepan over low heat until raisins are plump, about 20 minutes. Drain raisin liquid into measuring cup and add enough water to make 1/2 cup. Cream margarine, sugar, vanilla and eggs. Stir in raisin water. Sift flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda and spices together, then blend into creamed mixture. Add oatmeal, raisins and nuts. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto a ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 400º for 8 - 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
