2 lbs of Crisco shortening
4 to 5 cups flour
2 cinnamon sticks
2 star anise
1 Pilocillo sugar cone
1 cup of chopped pecans

Plus 1½ to 2 cups sugar and 5 tbsp ground cinnamon to sprinkle on both side of cookie.

In a pot melt shortening.
In another pot put 2 cups of water with 2 cinnamon sticks and 2 star anise and pilocillo sugar, boil for 5 mins.
Once tea is done take out cinnamon sticks and star anise and measure 1 cup of tea aside.
In a big bowl add 4 cups of flour, cinnamon tea and shortening while all warm, then add pecans.
Mix till it becomes a dough. Add flour if you need to. Dough is suppose to be not to sticky.
Then get a ball size to roll out. Cover dough that is in the bowl with a wet or damp towel when not using the dough .Then use dough when ready for next batch till you run out. Roll dough about ¼ thickness or thicker if you like. Cut out cookie with a small star or round shape.
Bake @ 350 for 20 mins. while cookies are baking, in a med bowl add 1½ cup sugar and 5 tbsp cinnamon.
Let cool for 5 to 10 minutes, then carefully get cookie and sprinkle the cinnamon and sugar on top and bottom of cookie.

Makes recipe makes a lot of these cookie. Be gentle also if you make then thin they can easily break on you while putting cinnamon and sugar on them.
If you want cinnamon taste add more tsp to the cinnamon and sugar mixture.
