12 oz. bag chocolate chips
⅔ c. Crisco shortening
1 c. sugar
4 eggs
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped walnuts

Mixing batter for brownies

Melt chocolate chips and Crisco in microwave 1-2 minutes, or until all melted.

Beat eggs add sugar until lemon color. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt together and add to egg - sugar mix. Add melted chocolate chips and Crisco, and vanilla mix well. Add walnuts and stir into batter.

Pour brownie batter in greased 9 x 13 pan. Preheat oven to 350º and bake 30 - 45 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

My Mom, Beatrice Gillette Whatman's recipe. Great tasting brownies! My cousin brought them to the Gillette reunion because she said she loved her Aunt Bea's brownies. I thought that was a wonderful tribute to Mom.
