4 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1 tsp baking soa
pinch of salt
4 heaping tbsp vegetable shortening
1 cup currants
1 cup buttermilk (may substitute 1 cup milk with 1 tsp vinegar added)
2 eggs

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350ºF.

Place flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt in large bowl. Blend in shortening. Add currants, buttermilk, and 2 eggs. Roll out 1/4 inch thick and cut. Prick top with fork. Bake until edges are brown, 10 to 15 minutes, on greased cookie sheet.
