1 cup butter, softened
1½ cups sugar
4 eggs, room temp
1/2 cup orange juice
6 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons baking powder
7 tbsp milk
sesame seeds

Preheat oven to 400º

Grease cookie sheet or use a silpat

Cream butter, adding sugar gradually. Add 1 egg, then a third of the OJ, do this 3x (using 3 eggs only)

Sift the flour with the baking soda and powder. Add the flour mix to the butter mix a little at a time, the dough should be soft.

Pinch off the dough and make long ropes about the width of pencil, cut into 2½" lengths. Twist two cut ropes together and place on cookie sheet.

Whisk the remaining egg with the milk.

Brush cookies with egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Lower oven to 375º bake for 10-12 minutes

Nana Helen used to make these for Grandpa Pete on holidays. They are called KOULOURAKIA in Greek. I believe she got the recipe from my Aunt Mary. One of my favorites growing up.
