3 cups Softasilk cake flour
1 cup sweet milk
2 sticks butter
1/4 cup Crisco
5 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp lemon extract
3 cups sugar
Can also add 1 tsp almond, sherry, brandy, and/or rum if desired.

Directions:

Mix sugar, butter, and shortening. Beat well. Add eggs one at a time and beat. Add milk, flour, and flavorings. Pour into a well-greased, floured tube pan. Bake at 300º 1 1/2 hours.

Any brand cake flour will work. Sweet milk is whole milk as opposed to sour milk which is buttermilk. Crisco is shortening.
