2/3 cup butter, softened
2 cups all purpose flour
1 egg
¾ cup sugar
1 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
Dash salt
1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water (egg wash)
Colored sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Beat butter with electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Add half of the flour, the egg, milk, baking powder, vanilla and salt. Beat until thoroughly combined. Beat in remaining flour. Divide dough in half. Cover and chill for 3 hours.

On a lightly floured surface, roll half the dough to ⅛ inch thick. Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Brush with the egg wash. Sprinkle with colored sugar. Bake in 375º oven for 7-8 minutes or until edges are firm and bottoms are lightly browned. Cool cookies on a rack.
