Ingredients: 1/2 lb crisco +1 tbsp butter 3/4 c sugar 2 eggs 3/4 c milk 4 c flour 4 tsp baking powder 1 tsp salt 12 tsp anise oil

Directions: |
Directions:Mix or Sift flour, baking powder and salt together. Cream together the crisco and butter. Blend in sugar. Beat in the eggs one at a time. Add milk alternately with the flour mixture. Add in the anise oil. This will make a soft dough. Refrigerate for two hours. Roll out thin on floured surface. Use Christmas cookie cutters to cut dough into shapes. Gently lift cut-outs onto slightly greased pans. Bake in a 325º to 350º oven for about 8 minutes. Cookies will be slightly white on top and slightly brown on the bottom. When cool frost and decorate.
Annabelle used a confectioners sugar and milk glaze. Stir a small amount of milk into confectioner's sugar until you get the desired thickness in the glaze.
Belle's glaze recipe:Mix 1 box of confectioner's sugar with 1 tbsp of butter or anise, 4 tbsp of boiling water and1 tsp of vanilla. |
