½ cup shortening
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup molasses
½ cup sour milk
2 teaspoons baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon ginger
½ teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon vinegar
2 ½ cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
1) Cream the shortening and brown sugar.
2) Add molasses to the shortening/ sugar mixture. Beat well.
3) Add ½ cup sour milk, 2 tablespoons of vinegar and the 2 teaspoons of baking soda.
**(If you do not have sour milk, use ½ cup of milk and add the 2 tablespoons of vinegar and the 2 teaspoons of baking soda. This mixture basically makes milk sour).

4) Combine 2 ½ cups of flour, ½ teaspoon salt, ½ teaspoon ginger, ½ teaspoon cinnamon.
5) Slowly add this dry mixture to the shortening/sugar mixture. Mix well.
6) Place the dough on a floured surface.
7) Roll the dough to about ¼ inch thick.
8) Cut with cookie cutter.
9) Bake on well greased cookie sheet with a little flour.
10) Cook 15 minutes at 350 degrees.
11) Place on a cooling rack.
