1 stick butter
1 cup granulated sugar
2 tsp vanilla
1 egg, beaten
1 3/4 cup sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in vanilla and egg. Sift dry ingredients together, add nuts. Gradually add to sugar mixture, beating well after each addition. Shape in long rolls (2" in diameter) on waxed paper. Chill several hours, overnight, or up to a week. Slice in 1/2" to 1/4" thick. Bake at 400ºF for 7 minutes on an ungreased sheet.
