Notes: After church, and coffee at Aunt Kate’s house, my family went to Grandma Keiffer’s house for dinner almost every Sunday when I was growing up. When we arrived in the early afternoon she always had tea and fresh cookies. Her specialties were Sugar Cookies, Wine Drops and Molasses cookies. Until I began this book, my siblings and I thought her Wine Drops and Molasses were similar, but two different cookies. When I went back to my cookbook from Grandma Julie I noticed her note on the Molasses recipe. In fact, I had only ever made the Wine Drops. She noted that a small versus a large batch of cookies is the only difference between the two recipes. I had to laugh, because she also credits Grandma Keiffer for the Wine Drops, and my Grandmother’s best friend Mabel Ryan for the Molasses. I credit both of them for this recipe.
