3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter (her original recipe called for margarine)
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1 egg
1 3/4 cup flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
6 oz package chocolate chips (1 cup)
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Mix all the ingredients. Bake on parchment lined baking sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes. Makes 4 dozen.
