Rolled Sugar Cookies


Ingredients:  
Ingredients:  
1/4 tsp salt
2 C all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
6 TBS butter or margarine
1/3 C vegetable shortening
3/4 C sugar
1 egg
1 TBS milk
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Preheat oven to 375
stir together flour, baking powder & 1/4 tsp salt
beat butter & shortening for 30 seconds
add sugar & beat till fluffy
add egg, milk & vanilla, beat well
add dry ingr
edients to beaten mixture
beat until well combined
cover & chill at least 3 hours
working with 1/2 of the dough at a time
lightly floured surface roll 1/8 inch thickness
cut into desired shapes
place onto ungreased cookie sheet
bake for 8 minutes or till done.
makes 36 to 48 cookies
 

Sugar Cookie Frosting


Ingredients:  
Ingredients:  
1/8 C shortening
1 C powder sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
little milk

Directions:
Directions:
Put shortening in a bowl, add powder sugar, 1/2 tsp vanilla, mix together & add a little milk for spreading consistency. Makes enough frosting for 1 batch of rolled out cookies. Add food coloring if desired.
