Directions:
Put first 9 ingredients into a saucepan; bring to a boil. Cook 4 min., cool and add 1/2 Cup applesauce

(applesauce is optional but makes it taste so much better)

then add 1 3/4 Cup flour & 1 tsp. baking soda

Beat well and pour ito a well greased loaf pan (size 9x5x3)

Bake in slow oven at 350 degrees for 3/4 to 1 hour. Test with toothpick to be sure the middle is done.

Does not need to be frosted but butter cream frosting is yummy on top

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:

This recipe is my favorite spice cake which my mother Janith Bleskey would make. It comes from her mother Rose Schultz, my maternal grandma, and it is delicious...It makes a great Thanksgiving or Christmas treat; but I love it anytime of the year
