1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
3 cups sifted flour
1/4 tsp salt
3 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup milk
1/2 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Thoroughly cream shortening and sugar, add egg and beat well. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk and vanilla. Mix thoroughly. Chill dough before rolling. Roll 1/2" thick on lightly flour surface. Cut with floured cookie cutter, sprinkle with sugar, if desired. Bake on greased cookie sheet at 375º about 15 minutes.
