For Bread:
⅓ cup crisco shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
¼ tsp. almond extract
1½ cup flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
½ cup milk
1 TBSP lemon zest, (grated peel)
½ cup chopped nuts

For Drizzle:
3 TBSP lemon juice
¼ cup sugar



Directions:
Directions:
Blend Crisco and the 1 cup of sugar together. Beat in eggs and almond extract. In separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Beat dry ingredients alternately into the sugar/egg mixture alternately with the milk. Fold in the nuts and the lemon peel. Turn into 8½ X 4½ X 2¾" glass loaf pan. Bake at 325º for 70 minutes.

Mix together lemon juice and the ¼ cup sugar. Drizzle over hot loaf when it comes out of the oven.
