2 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
6 T butter or margarine
1/3 cup shortening
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 T milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Glaze for Sugar Cookies:
2 cups confectioners' sugar
2 T milk
2 T corn syrup

Stir together flour, baking powder and salt. Beat butter or margarine and shortening for 30 seconds; add sugar and beat till fluffy. Add egg, milk, and vanilla. Beat well. Add dry ingredients to beaten mixture, beating until well combined. Cover and chill for at least 3 hours. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Working with 1/3 to 1/2 of dough at a time on a lightly floured surface, roll to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut into desired shapes with floured cookie cutter. Please on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 8 minutes or until very light brown.

Glaze:

Mix all ingredients together. Tint as desired. Spread evenly over cookies; set cookies on wire rack to dry.
