6 pkg (or 6 tbs) dry yeast
1 cup warm water
1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp salt
1 1/2 cup milk
1 stick margarine (not oil)
8 beaten eggs

4 cups raisins, soaked in very hot water or even heat a bit on stove)

Directions:
Directions:
Mix warm water, yeast , sugar and salt and set aside. Mix milk and oleo and heat until oleo is melted. Remove from heat. I use a large Tupperware bowl with seal. Add milk and oleo mixture to beaten eggs. Mix well. Add warm water, yeast, sugar and salt mixture and mix well. This is all mixed by hand after eggs are beaten. Slowly add 6 cups of flour, mixing well. Drain raisins and mix with one cup of flour, tossing lightly. Stir into mixture (mixture will be very soft). Cover and let rise till dough reaches lid. Meanwhile, in deep-fat fryer, heat 3 quarts oil to 375º. Carefully spoon raised mixture into hot grease - not too big. Brown on both sides and remove (use tongs). Drain on wire rack. Glaze. Makes about 90 to 95 cookies.
Recipe can easily be cut in half.

Glaze for New Year's Cookies:
2 lb bag of powdered sugar
2 tbs vanilla
1 heaping fork of cornstarch
Milk
dash of salt
Pour about 1/4 of powdered sugar, cornstarch and salt in bowl. Gradually add milk and keep stirring with fork. When you've used all of mixture, add vanilla. Dip New Year's Cookies into glaze, letting excess drip back into bowl. Let "set up" on wire racks. This recipe will be enoug to coat/glaze the New Year's Cookie Recipe. This can easliy be cut in half if you cut cookie recipe in half.
