1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/2 c. shortening
3/4 c. brown sugar
1 egg
2 tbsp. milk
1/2 c. oatmeal
1/2 c. finely chopped dates
1/2 c, chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Mix first 5 ingredients. Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg and milk. Beat well. Add dry ingredients. Mix well. Stir in oats, dates and nuts.

Drop by teaspoons on greased cookie sheets. Bake 15 minutes at 350º.

I stopped buying shortening a long time ago. I substitute softened coconut oil or you can try butter. Sharon
