1st set of ingredients:
¾ c. butter; gradually add
¾ c. sifted powdered sugar; cream well
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. evaporated milk
¼ tsp. salt. Mix well

2nd set of ingredients:
2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
If necessary, chill for easier handling.

Caramel Icing:
Combine ½ lb. (about 28) light colored candy caramels and ¼ c. evaporated milk. Heat until caramels melt stirring occasionally. Remove from heat. Stir in ¼ c. butter, 1 c. sifted powdered sugar and 1 c. pecans, chopped.

Chocolate Icing
Melt 1 6 0z. pkg. (1 c.) chocolate chips with ⅓ c. evaporated milk over low heat. Remove from heat. Stir in 2 tbsp. butter, 1 tsp. vanilla and ½ c. sifted powdered sugar. (I make this icing a little thicker.)

Preheat oven to 325º F

Cream 1st set of ingredients .

Blend in 2nd set of ingredients.

Roll out dough, half at a time
Cut into 3" x ½" rectangles or 2" squares. (I use my pastry cutter).
Place on uncreased cookie sheets.

Bake for 12 - 16 minutes until lightly browned. Cool.

Spread 1 tsp. filling on each. Top with ½ tsp. Icing. Decorate with pecan half, if desired.
