3 cups sifted flour
1/2 tsp salt
3 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
1/2 tsp vanilla

1 cup chopped dates
1/2 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup water
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour, salt and baking powder.
Cream butter and sugar.
Beat egg, add dry ingredients alternately with milk and vanilla mix.
Chill: then roll 1/8 inch thick. Cut half of the cookies with a donut cutter, remove centers.
Cut the second half with donut cutter, don't use the center cutter.

Simmer for 10 minutes, dates, brown sugar and water. Stir in pecans.
Put 1 tsp of filling on half of the cookies, top with open center cookies.
Bake at 375º foe 12 to 15minutes on greased cookie sheet.
