1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
2 c. flour
1/4 t. salt
1/2 t. soda
1 egg, beaten

Mix well and roll out.

Cook til thick:
1/2 lb. chopped dates
1/4 c. white sugar
1/3 c. water
1/4 c. walnuts
salt

Spread on cookie dough. Roll and slice.

Bake at 350o for 12 minutes.
