Grandma's Valentine Sugar Cookies Recipe

½ cup butter
½ cup shortening
1 cup sugar
3 Tbls. Milk
1 egg
1 tsp, vanilla
3 ½ cups flour
1 tsp. Soda
1 tsp. Baking powder

Frosting
Milk
Oleo ( margarine)
Powdered sugar
Food coloring

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven 350º

Cream first 3 ingredients together
Add milk, egg and vanilla
Sift dry ingredients together and add to creamed mixture
Mix well and roll out thin. Cut with heart shaped cookie cutter. Bake for 7 minutes, til brown around edges. Don't over bake or they become hard and brittle.

Frosting
mix the oleo and powdered sugar together, add milk a little at a time for correct consistency, add red food coloring until it's the right color. Grandma didn't have any measurements here, it should be smooth and pretty thin.
