Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. 30 minutes or til cake done

Cream together first 3 ingredients. Mix cocoa and food coloring together and add to creamed mixture. Add dry ingredients and the buttermilk, and then the soda and vinegar last. Bake in two well greased and floured layer pans for 30 minutes. While cake bakes cook the milk and flour for the frosting, stirring constantly so it doesn't scorch, it should be a thick paste. Cool completely. Cover with plastic wrap to keep scum from forming. Cool cake completely. I slice the layers so I have four layers. For the frosting:
Cream the cold butter and sugar til very smooth and then add the cooled flour paste, beat hard til you have a smooth fluffy mixture. I add a tsp. of vanilla. Spread on cooled layers. Refrigerate,

Personal Notes:
The colder your butter is for your frosting, the better it will hold up. I usually make half again as much frosting since I put between all of the layers. Doug loves this cake, mainly for the frosting.
