1 cup Shortening
2 cups Sugar
2 Eggs
1/2 tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp. Vanilla
1/2 tsp. Baking Soda
1 cup Milk
5 cups All Purpose Flour
1 tsp. Cinnamon
1/2 tsp. Nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º


Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.

Add eggs one at the time until combined. Add vanilla.

Sift dry ingredients together.

Add dry ingredients alternately with the milk.

Flour board/counter and roll out dough 1/4 inch thick.

Cut out in desired shapes.

Bake 10-12 minutes.

Mom made these every year for Christmas. We would spend an afternoon decorating and she would always keep the cookies shaped like Santa's boot to herself to frost. We had to hide them from Uncle Steve because he would eat them all and we would have to leave Santa a beer and pretzels!
