2 eggs
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1 cup lard
2 TBSP. syrup
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1 small tsp. salt (optional)
4 - 5 cups of flour to thicken

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve soda in a bit of milk. Cream eggs, sugar, lard, syrup, soda and salt. Add flour and mix well. Divide into 3 and roll in waxed paper. Refrigerate over night. Slice thin and bake at 350º F. for 8 - 10 minutes. When cool, put a filling in between two cookies. Use jam or dates cooked with water and sugar until thick. You can also roll out and cut with cookie cutters.
