1 1/2 cup of sugar
3/4 cup melted shortening
1 rounded teaspoon nutmeg
2 rounded teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
1 cup of milk
1 rounded teaspoon baking soda
4 cups of flour

Preheat oven 350

Cream shortening sugar, and egg gradually add other ingredients and mix. Drop spoonful onto greased cookie sheet and bake until lightly browned.

Grandma and Aunt Ruth always had Charlie Chip can full of these cookies. Aunt Ruth would try to convince Delly when he was little just to have a half a cookie. Needless to say Delly did not agree.
