2 cups of sugar
1 cup of shortening (half butter for better flavor)
2 eggs
1 cup of buttermilk or sour milk
5 cups of flour
½ tsp. of baking soda
1 ½ tsp. of baking powder
1 tsp. of salt
A dash of vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
1. Cream sugar, shortening, and eggs together. Add buttermilk/sour milk. Add remaining dry ingredients and chill dough over night or for several hours.
2. Roll out and cut into shapes (thin for crisper cookies and not so thin for thicker cookies). Bake at 400 degrees for 10-12 minutes. This makes over 5-6 dozen cookies depending on the size of the cookie cutters.
