Grind together the following
2 c salted peanuts
3 c raisins
1 lb dates

2 1/2 c lard or shortening
5 5/8 c sugar
6 eggs
1 c molasses

Sift together the following
12 c flour
4 tsp baking powder
1 T salt
3 tsp cinnamon
After sifting add 3 c oatmeal

Add to first mixture alternately with 4 tsp of soda dissolved in 1 pt buttermilk. Drop and press down or roll. Brush tops with beaten egg. Bake at 375 degrees.

I usually add a box of dried apricots, prunes, or other dried fruits are also good additions.
