Ingredients:  
1 c shortening 2 c brown sugar FILLING: 1 c dates, finely cut
2 eggs 1/2 c warm water 1/2 c sugar
1 1/2 tsp baking soda 1 tsp vanilla 2 T flour
4 c flour 1/2 tsp salt 1 c water
1 tsp vanilla
pinch of salt
1/2 c sliced pecans (can use
walnuts)

Directions:
Directions:
Mix in order given. Drop dough by spoonful on greased cookie sheet. Make impression with wet fingertip. Add 1 teaspoon filling. Place 1 teaspoon dough on top of filling. Bake at 350º.

Filling: Cook until thickened. Let cool.
