2, 8-oz. packages cream cheese at room temperature
3 eggs
1/2 tsp. almond extract
2/3 cup sugar
dash salt
topping:
1 cup sour cream
3 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
can cherry pie filling

Directions:
Directions:
Beat cheese until fluffy. Gradually beat in 2/3 cup sugar and a dash of salt. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add almond extract and beat until smooth. Pour into buttered pie pan. Bake at 350º for 25 minutes. Remove from oven and cool for 20 minutes. While cake is cooling, mix together sour cream, 3 tbsp. sugar, and vanilla. Pour over top of cake and return to oven for 10 minutes. Place on cooling rack and let cool. Top with one can cherry pie filling. Refrigerate.

This was a recipe the kids' grandma Garruto made every time we visited. First cheesecake recipe I tried making. Good. Don't need a springform pan for this recipe.
