1 cup butter
½ cup white sugar
½ cup brown sugar
2 ½ cups flour
½ tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
2 large eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 375°F. Combine softened butter and sugars in a mixing bowl then cream until light and fluffy. In the meantime, sift the flour, salt and baking soda together and set aside.
Add the eggs 1 at a time to the creamed mixture. The add vanilla and increase the mixer speed until thoroughly incorporated.
With the mixer set too low, slowly add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture until well combined. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts then chill until oven is ready. Using small ice cream scoop place dough on baking sheets and bake for 9 - 11 minutes until golden brown.
