Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 can sauerkraut, drained (save the juice for mushroom soup) and rinsed
½ can of water
Small can of peas, drained
Large chopped onion
1-2 tbsp. butter
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 tsp. sugar
Crisp bacon, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Rinse the sauerkraut once or multiple times if really salty. Add ½ can of water. Simmer 45 minutes to 1 hour. Add small can of drained peas. Cook 10 minutes. Brown the onion in butter. Add the onion, salt and pepper and sugar to kraut. Cook on low for about 15 minutes until it thickens. If there is too much liquid, drain some off. Season to taste with salt, pepper, and sugar. Top with crisp, chopped bacon and serve.

If you like kraut and not the peas, you can make it without adding them.
