½ c. shortening
½ tsp. salt
1 tsp. grated lemon rind
1 c. sugar
1 egg
2 tbsp. milk
2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. soda
Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 400º F. Blend together shortening, salt, lemon rind, and sugar. Beat in egg and milk. Stir in flour, baking powder, and soda. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls on lightly greased baking sheet. Grease bottom of a glass, dip in sugar, flatten each cookie, and sprinkle with nutmeg. Bake 8–10 minutes.
