2 cups brown sugar
1 cup butter (room temperature)
3 eggs
3 & 3/4 cups flour
1 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup black walnuts (optional)
1 package flavored gumdrops

Directions:
Directions:
Mix brown sugar and butter until creamy. Add eggs. Add flour & soda. Mix well and fold in nuts and gumdrops.
Form dough into one long or two smaller rolls about two inches in diameter and wrap in waxed paper. Chill thoroughly. Slice into thin slices and place on lightly greased cookie sheet and bake at 350º until lightly browned. Cool slightly before transferring them to a rack. These can be baked as needed. The dough will keep in the refrigerator for weeks.
