3/4 cup butter shortening
3/4 cup lightly
1 egg
3/4 cup light molasses
3/4 cup buttermilk
4 cups self rising flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cloves

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together shortening and brown sugar. Add egg and beat for 2 minutes. Add molasses and milk, blend well. Sift together dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture combining well.
Drop from teaspoon onto greased baking sheet.
Bake at 350º F for 12 to 15 minutes.
Makes about 6 dozen cookies.
