1/2 c shortening
1/4 c brown sugar
1 egg yolk
1/2 tsp vanilla

1 c sifted flour
1/4 tsp salt

egg whites
nuts
Directions:
Directions:
Mix together shortening, brown sugar, egg yolk, & vanilla.
Sift together and stir in sifted flour & salt.
Roll in 1 inch balls.
Dip in slightly beaten egg whites & roll in nuts.
Bake 5 minutes in a 375º oven.
Remove, press finger in, and return to oven for 8 minutes.
