Aunt Margaret’s Cookie Cake
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
½ t. salt
1 stick margarine
1 cup water
½ cup Crisco (butter flavored is the best)
6 T. cocoa
2 eggs
1 t. vanilla
1 t. soda
½ cup buttermilk (can be made with ½ cup milk & 1 T. vinegar. Let sit a couple of minutes before adding to cake mixture…will be kind of lumpy)

CAKE: In a large bowl mix first three ingredients. In a saucepan, bring to a boil the next four items, and then pour over flour mixture. Mix well. Add the next 4 items to this mixture and mix well. Bake in a greased cookie sheet (with sides) at 350 for 20 minutes.

ICING
1 stick margarine
6 T. cocoa
6 T. milk
1 box powdered sugar
1 t. vanilla
1 cup chopped walnuts
Melt first 3 ingredients – do not boil. Remove from heat and add last 3 ingredients. Mix well and ice cake as soon as it comes out of the oven. Let cool.
