1 qt. milk
7 T. butter
4 lg. eggs, well beaten
2 C. mashed potatoes
6-7 C. flour
1 C. sugar
1 heaping tsp. salt
2 pkg. quick rise dry yeast
2 C. raisins

Directions:
Directions:
Scald milk, add butter. When cool, add eggs and mashed potatoes. In a large pan, put 6 cups flour, sugar, salt, yeast,and raisins, mix well. Add milk mixture to dry ingredients and mix well. let rise until it gets foamy. Beat in more flour until dough is quite stiff. Knead dough for 5 min.and then let rise until double in bowl. Roll out and cut into donuts. Dough will be sticky, use flour to coat hands for ease of handling. Let donuts rise on floured pans. Fry in 400º hot oil.

Grandma Cecelia always seemed to have these on hand and warmed them in the oven and shook them in a brown paper bag with sugar. they were as big as plates, I swear!
