1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1/4 tsp. salt
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 cup milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
3 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar; add egg and beat well. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk and vanilla; mix thoroughly. Roll 1/8 inch thick on lightly floured surface. Cut with floured cookie cutter; sprinkle with sugar. Bake on greased cookie sheet in 375º oven about 15 minutes.

Hint: Chill dough before rolling. Lift with spatula to keep shape.
