(Almost) Mary's Sugar Cookies Recipe

1 1/2 C of sifted confectioner's sugar
1 C butter
1 egg
1 tsp of vanilla
2 1/2 C of shifted all purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cream of tartar

Directions:
Directions:
-Mix sugar and butter and add egg and flavoring mixing thoroughly

-Sift and and then stir dry ingredients together with the butter mixture.

-Refrigerate dough for 2-3 hours

-Preheat oven to 375 degrees

-Roll 1/2 the dough out on a pastry mat to no less than 3/16" thick (the thinner rolled, the crispier the cookie)

-Cut out the cookies and place on a cookie sheet

-Bake 7-8 minutes or until golden brown.

These were Mom's favorite cookies. The thinner they were, the better she liked them. She never used the almond flavoring the original recipe included so that is why they are Almost Mary's Sugar Cookies.
