1 cup granulated sugar
2 cups sifted flour
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup lard or shortening or butter
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cups oatmeal (old fashioned oatmeal)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugars thoroughly with lard until mixture is light and fluffy and no granules remain. Beat in the eggs until light. Stir in oatmeal. I n a separate bowl, sift the measured flour with salt, soda, and baking powder. Work into oatmeal mixture. Mix in vanilla. Drop by teaspoon onto a cookie sheet. Bake at 350º for 10 to 12 minutes.
