2 c. corn meal
1 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1 egg
1 tsp. sugar (opt.)
Milk (sweet or regular)

Directions:
Directions:
1. Mix together dry ingredients. Add egg and enough milk to make a good mixture.

2. Put 2 T. shortening in iron skillet and place in oven at 400º to melt and skillet to get pipping hot. Pour shortening in cornbread and stir real good.

3. Poor cornbread batter into skillet and cook until crisp.
