1/2 cup margarine or butter

1/2 Crisco shortening
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
3 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. soda
2 tsp. cream of tarter
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
cream together the margarine (butter) , shortening, with the sugar mix well add 1 egg at a time, take the flour and add to it the soda and cream of tarter slowly pour it into the egg mixture until well mixed add the vanilla.
The dough needs to chill for about 1 hour before rolling it out . preheat oven to 350 degrees
get out your cooking cutters, flour a surface and take 1/4 of your dough and roll it to 1/4" cut your design out and bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes, if dough gets sticky put it back in the fridge for a few minutes before rolling it again.

Grandma would make a huge batch of these cookies every year. All her grandchildren and kids would get together and bake and decorate the cookies. Such a beautiful memories of Christmas time with Mom, and our families.
