2 eggs (separate the whites from the yolks)
2 cups white sugar
1 cup Wesson oil
1 cup buttermilk
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon vanilla
3 cups cake flour
½ cup Hershey’s Cocoa
1 cup boiling water
2 teaspoon baking soda

Icing
¾ cup powder sugar
½ cup Karo syrup (white or dark)
2 egg whites
3 tablespoons water

For the Cake:
Bring the water to a boil, dissolve the baking soda and then cool.

Sift flour, salt, and cocoa together. Mix egg yolks, sugar, and Wesson oil together, mixing well. Gradually add buttermilk to the egg yolk, sugar, oil mixture. Add flour gradually; mixing well. Lastly, add the baking soda water mixture and mix until a smooth consistency.

Bake in a well-greased pan at 325 degrees for 30 minutes.

Icing
¾ cup powder sugar
½ cup Karo syrup (white or dark)
2 egg whites
3 tablespoons water

Bring to a boil and beat for 7 minutes.
