GRANNY SAYS......no cookbook complete without the chocolate star cookie recipe!! I have made this cookie recipe over and over and everyone still loves them. And they are usually a staple on my Christmas cookie plates. But we especially love them with the Chocolate stars, but lately they aren’t always available....So Chocolate kisses will work. I used to always find the candies in Brach’s packages in the grocery stores, then a lot of the candies went to bulk, so that was fine, then, they took away our bulk candy at the store, (too many secret dippers and snackers, I suppose)....But then Charlene and George could still always find them in bulk at the Air Force base where they shopped. So they would bring me tons of them, greatly appreciated. But now even that supply has seemed to dry up.....so alas, Sherry found them for me on the internet. And they worked fine, other than the fact they arrived kind of in a big melted chocolate lump in the mail. ; ) But was able to selvage enough for a batch and they worked just fine, but they were much smaller than the old original stars. So dog-gone-it!! Not sure what is going on in the chocolate Star business.....maybe they will be available on the Black Market soon. Let me know if anyone finds them......they are the best!
