1C oil

1 pkg pitted dated

1 c walnuts chopped

2 C sugar

2 C boiling water

4 eggs

2 t baking soda

1 t nutmeg

1 t cinnamon

1/2 t cloves

1/2 t allspice

2 T chocolate (Grandma Carl used sweet ground Ghiradelli))

3 C flour

Directions:
Directions:
Bake 350 for one hour

Separate eggs. Beat whites and put in fridge

Beat yolks and oil adding a little at a time.

In separate bowl put dates, baking soda, and boiling water.

Add dry ingredients slowly to egg yolk mixture.

Then add dates slowly

Fold in whites last

Spray 9x11 pan and put mixture in it.

Directions were a bit meshuganah! Great recipe passed down from generation to generation but I think everyone knew how to make it so well they didn't write down very good instructions for us newbies
