2 c. pastry flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. butter
1 1/4 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. baking soda, dissolved into 2 tbsp. boiling water
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. rolled oats

Kent likes them with raisins added!

Blend flour and salt

Cream shortening and butter until fluffy

Gradually blend in brown sugar

Stir baking soda solution and vanilla into creamed mixture

Add flour mixture and stir until blended

Gradually stir in rolled oats

Shape into balls 2 inches apart on a greased cookie sheet

Bake 12-15 min. at 350ºF
